Colin Slee
Colin Slee is a landscape artist living and working in Suffolk. Colin takes his inspiration from local Suffolk landscapes and also from Devon and Cornwall where he previously worked and lived.
In his landscapes Colin aims to create an expressive and emotional response to the environment, evoking the ever-changing effects of the elements on water, skies, forests and the countryside. Colin studied at Newton Abbot College of Art, specialising in printmaking before working as a graphic designer, typographer and studio manager in advertising agencies in Exeter and Bristol before establishing his own art and design studio. In 1996 Colin became a full time painter when he moved to Melton, near Woodbridge in Suffolk. He works with charcoal, pastel and acrylic to create powerful subdued landscape which evokes the timeless quality of the natural landscape. Since 2019 he has been a member and exhibitor with The Suffolk Group, and since 1998 a member and exhibitor with the Ipswich Art Society. Between 2000 and 2007 he regularly exhibited at The Pastel Society and ‘Discerning Eye’ exhibitions at the Mall Galleries, London and currently at the Snape Maltings Gallery, Snape, Suffolk and The Rye Art Gallery, Rye, East Sussex.
