Martin Laurance
Martin Laurance is a contemporary painter living and working in Norwich. He travels widely throughout the UK and his landscapes are linked to the ever changing coast lines of Norfolk, Suffolk and North Cornwall as well as the hills and moors of North Yorkshire.
Martin starts his work by sketching outdoors, often in black and white, and then works up the landscape in his studio, using oils or acrylics, sometimes applying collage to create additional texture. He wants us to really look at the landscape and helps us with bold colours and brushstrokes. Martin was educated at Ipswich School of Art and the University of East Anglia. He followed a career as an engraver and graphic designer before moving into teaching. Martin has exhibited widely in East Anglia and London in many solo and group shows, including Mandell's Gallery and Grapevine Gallery in Norwich. His work is in a number of collections including the National Trust, as well as private collections in Europe, Japan, Canada and the USA. He has exhibited widely in Zurich, including a commission as part of accountants Deloitte and Touche's 2001 Contemporary British Art Exhibition. For sales enquires please contact [email protected] |
