Solo exhibition Finding Freedom 13 May 2023.
Neil Canning is a leading UK contemporary artist, part of the new generation of St Ives artists. Originally from Oxfordshire, Neil spent 7 years in Wales before moving to Cornwall in 1997. Neil lives and works in a small village outside Marazion, near Penzance. The coast and moors of this beautiful and dramatic peninsular give his work colour, space and a sense of drama.
In 1997 Neil was included in the exhibition Art Now Cornwall at Tate St Ives. In 2011 he won the main prize in the Discerning Eye Exhibition sponsored by ING. He was then invited by the bank to have a solo show at their London headquarters in the city. He has exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, his first appearance was at the age of 21 when a self portrait was selected. He has also had a major presence at art fairs, including London Art Fair since 1991. Neil's recent significant solo shows include Martin Tinney Gallery in Cardiff, Lemon Street Gallery in Truro, Portland Gallery in London and the Lynne Strover Gallery in Cambridge. He has also been a leading contributor to many group shows throughout the UK and Ireland. His work is collected by private individuals worldwide, and public and significant corporate collections including The Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, The Bank of England and Unilever. In 2011 Neil received an honorary doctorate from the University of Exeter for his "outstanding contribution to contemporary British art". For sales enquires please contact [email protected] |
