Ruth McCabe
Ruth is an artist painting in both oils and watercolours. Brought up in the wildness of the Pennine moors and industrial West Yorkshire, Ruth now lives in Suffolk.
Ruth's work reflects her responses to the edgy, vulnerable East Anglian coastline, and to areas where the natural world is inscribed and scarred by modern industry. Beginning by sketching outdoors Ruth then develops these studies in the studio, where work becomes more interpretive, staying with uncertainty until the composition 'speaks" of her subject. Ruth studied Botany and Zoology at university, teaching her to appreciate the immense complexity of form and function in life. After a career in psychotherapy, Ruth moved to Suffolk and began painting, mentored for some years by the oil painter Julie Noad. Ruth has exhibited throughout Suffolk, Norfolk, and London including The Mall Galleries and Bankside Gallery. Her work is collected internationally in Australia, USA, Germany and The Netherlands.
