Jo Rizzato
Jo Rizzato is a contemporary landscape painter living and working in Manningtree, Essex. She paints close to home where she has luxurious, breathtaking colourful views of the River Stour and surrounding areas to inspire her work.
Wrabness, which lies between Manningtree and Harwich on the Stour is a favourite spot which she is drawn to regularly in all weathers and seasons. Her riverscapes are often a reflection of the river’s colour, shape and light, which varies enormously depending on the tides and time of day. Her energetic brushwork, mark making and bold use of colour, endeavour to capture the mood, emotional content and beauty of the ever changing countryside which surrounds her. Jo paints primarily on canvas, using acrylic paints. She prefers large canvasses which allow her a greater freedom of expression. She generally paints by referring to photographs taken on her regular walks and also from memory. Jo studied at the Roehampton Institute in London where she obtained a degree in textile design and printing but in latter years has focused on painting. Jo has exhibited at the Hayletts Gallery in Maldon, and The Sentinel Gallery in Wivenhoe in Essex and continues to exhibit regularly both with The Maltings Gallery at Snape, Suffolk and Caxton Gallery in Frinton on Sea, Essex.
