Tim Goffe/Cafe with pink poster SOLD
Mari French / Out of the blue SOLD
This is a two person show featuring leading contemporary British artist Tim Goffe, and Mari French one of East Anglia's leading abstract artists and a regular with us at Gallery East. Both artists successfully exhibit around the UK.
Tim captures scenes of contemporary urban living spaces, with just fleeting glances of people, and industrial landscapes often ignored by the passing eye. Tim's background as a photographer gives us a unique perspective on these forgotten spaces. His work has been selected for the RA Summer Show for the last couple of years and his painting, Tremendous Potential, has just been selected for this year's October 2020 show. He was shortlisted for the 2020 Jacksons Painting Prize.

The roots of Mari's paintings lie in her deep-seated affinity with landscape and weather, capturing the elemental forces of wild and less visited landscapes. She grew up close to the Pennine Hills, worked for several years on Skye and now lives in Norfolk. The work included in this show is from her Dungeness series in which the industrial landscape of the power station and neglected fishermen's huts peak through the barren, yet full atmospheric coastline. Her work is regularly selected for the Royal Institute of Painters in watercolour exhibitions at the Mall Galleries in London including works in the recent exhibition.

Downstairs we are featuring words and drawings by Jason Gathorne-Hardy(well known Suffolk artist and founder of the Alde Valley Festival )in a new exhibition called Immersion: "These drawings about Suffolk and Kerry in Ireland all relate to the sea; two outer edges of the archipelago that we live on. The coast of Kerry faces the broad Atlantic and the sea there seems to breed much of the weather that drifts across the Irish Sea and then trails across Wales and England. Suffolk often gets what’s left - which is sometimes very little and what at other times feels like an extra helping .. double portions, even for this dry county." Jason Gathorne-Hardy October 2020
