Simon Carter is an artist and curator, living in Frinton, Essex. Landscape allows Simon to think about the processes of painting. and how peripheral vision encroaches and the layers that go into making a painted surface. These methodologies are often hidden but as with brush marks Simon wants to make them all visible, and see how they might work even if the layers are re-ordered.
He studied at Colchester Institute and North East London Polytechnic. In 2013 Simon collaborated with artist Robert Priseman to form the artist led group Contemporary British Painting and the East Contemporary Art Collection which is the first dedicated, permanent collection of contemporary art for the East of England, housed at the University of Suffolk, Ipswich. Simon is President of Colchester Art Society and has been Artist-in-residence at the University of Essex and Firstsite, Colchester.
His work is in national and international collections and he regularly exhibits in solo and group shows including solo shows with Messum's in London and Wiltshire.

Emma Green is a contemporary painter living and working from her studio near the river Deben in Suffolk. Emma’s oil paintings explore Suffolk’s coastal landscape, its wildness, remoteness and the fleeting changes of light and atmosphere.
She grew up in Woodbridge, Suffolk and studied at Ipswich School of Art followed by a Fine Art Degree in Hull before returning to Suffolk in 2002.
Emma also works on floral studies of the plants found on the Suffolk Coast. She has completed a recent residency at White House Farm as part of the Alde Valley Spring Festival to immerse herself in painting the cherry blossom.
Emma exhibits regularly at Alde Valley, The Gallery, Snape Maltings, Suffolk, ArtDog London, Thompsons Galleries, and Cambridge Contemporary Art.

Kate Giles is a contemporary artist whose work focuses on a keen and intimate vision of the landscape of East Anglia. She now lives and works in Norfolk. Whether in oil on linen or board, the paint describes, for Kate, a bold, active and revised expressionist dialogue between the locality closely examined in space, place and time and how it is deployed to challenge the actuality of the surface, or facture, of the work itself.
Kate read English at Oxford and then trained at Camberwell and Falmouth Schools of Art.
She has exhibited regularly in London and in East Anglia, and internationally, including the Salisbury Museum’s ‘Constable in Context’ show 2016 – 2017 where her work was hung alongside that of John Constable, JMW Turner, Dennis Creffield, and Leon Kossoff, as part of the Tate’s Aspire Programme.
Kate has undertaken a number of commissions and residencies, and her work can be found in numerous public and private collections both internationally and in the UK, including the Britten Pears Foundation, Aviva and Banco Sabadell.

Ruth McCabe is a contemporary artist living and working in Suffolk. She was brought up in the wildness of the Pennine moors and industrial West Yorkshire. Her work, in both oils and watercolours reflects her responses to the edgy, vulnerable East Anglian coastline, and to areas where the natural world is inscribed and scarred by modern industry.
Ruth studied Botany and Zoology at university, and after a career in psychotherapy, moved to Suffolk and began painting, full time mentored for some years by the oil painter Julie Noad.
Ruth has exhibited throughout Suffolk, Norfolk, and London including The Mall Galleries and Bankside Gallery. Her work is collected internationally in Australia, USA, Germany and The Netherlands.

Jo Rizzato is a contemporary landscape painter living and working in Manningtree, Essex. Wrabness, which lies between Manningtree and Harwich on the Stour is a favourite spot. Her riverscapes are often a reflection of the river’s colour, shape and light. Jo paints primarily on canvas, using acrylic paints. She prefers large canvasses which allow her a greater freedom of expression.
Jo studied at the Roehampton Institute in London where she obtained a degree in textile design and printing before turning to painting.
Jo has exhibited at the Hayletts Gallery in Maldon, and The Sentinel Gallery in Wivenhoe in Essex and continues to exhibit regularly both with The Maltings Gallery at Snape, Suffolk and Caxton Gallery in Frinton on Sea, Essex.
